What makes my allergies worse?
The obvious answer to this question is the allergens presence itself, but there are many other controllable and uncontrollable factors that make your allergy symptoms heightened. The three largest and most prevalent factors are cigarette smoke, global warming, and asthma.

The number one controllable factor that affects your allergies is cigarette or cigar smoke. First hand inhalation of smoke or second hand smoke has been proven to make allergic symptoms worst. The results of testing by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology suggest that people with allergies are especially affected by cigarette smoke and should avoid smoking, the research team said. They should also reduce their exposure to secondhand smoke.

Believe it or not, global warming is a major producer to why your allergies are heightened and why more and more people worldwide are finding out they have severe allergies. Many scientists believe that global warming is a big reason for the rapid rise of allergies over the past few decades. Allergic diseases have also increased recently because of lifestyle changes, obesity, and pollution. Because of these factors, a larger percentage of the population will be more sensitive to any increase in allergens caused by global warming. You can do your part to reduce global warming by staying “Green.” There are many initiatives by our government and many specialty stores that sell green products. Support a Green Initiative to help control your allergies and the next generation of people across the world.
